
Barbara A. Esses, M.D. is a neurotologist with Denver Ear Associates, having joined the practice in 1992. Dr. Esses earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry with distinction from the University of Colorado and graduated with honors from the University of Colorado School of Medicine. She completed her residency in general surgery at Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver and Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. A board-certified otolaryngologist, Dr. Esses completed a fellowship in Otology/Neurotology Skull Base Surgery at the Michigan Ear Institute in 1992.
In addition to being an Affiliate Faculty Member at Regis University Department of Physical Therapy, she is also a neurotologic consultant for the Colorado Department of Labor Task Force for Traumatic Brain Injury Treatment Guidelines. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery and the American Neurotology Society.
In addition to providing full neurotological services, Dr. Esses has enjoyed remarkable exposure to and success with diagnosis and treatment of the balance disordered patient. She designed and developed the Rocky Mountain Center for Dizziness and Balance Disorders, a collaborative effort incorporating a panel of hand-picked physical therapists, a neurologist, and a neuro-optometrist. The organization, through Denver Ear Associates, provides premium care to many patients who have struggled with this debilitating condition.

Robert S. Feehs, M.D., a board-certified neurotologist, joined Denver Ear Associates in 1993. Having received his undergraduate degree from the University of California at Davis in 1980, he completed his general surgery internship and residency at Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver. He was trained in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery at Bowman Gray School of Medicine at Wake Forest University, and subsequently completed his Otology/Neurotology Skull Base Surgery fellowship at Denver Ear Institute in 1993.
His clinical interests include diagnosis and treatment of chronic ear disease, dizziness, hearing loss, tinnitus, facial paralysis, and tumors of the ear. Dr. Feehs has extensive experience in the research and surgical application of cochlear and middle ear implants. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology and the American Neurotology Society. He provides consultation for the Colorado Newborn Hearing Screening Committee.
Dr. Feehs’ work has been published in a variety of medical journals, including Laryngoscope. He has authored “Laryngitis,” a chapter published in the book, Head and Neck Surgery – Otolaryngology. He has been, on several occasions, a presenter on head and neck medical management. Dr. Feehs has participated in third-world country medical missions to provide hearing healthcare to the underprivileged.

Robert P. Muckle, M.D. is a Denver Ear Associates board-certified neurotologist, having earned his undergraduate degree from Stanford University and receiving his medical training at the University of Michigan. Upon the completion of his general surgery internship at the Naval Hospital in San Diego, and serving a two-year tour of duty as a Naval Medical Officer, Dr. Muckle obtained his training in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Minnesota. A board-certified otolaryngologist, he completed a fellowship in Otology/Neurotology at the House Ear Institute prior to joining Denver Ear Associates in 1995. Dr. Muckle’s clinical interests include diagnosis and treatment of hearing loss, including surgical reconstruction of the hearing mechanism, cochlear and middle ear implantation, treatment of chronic ear disorders, and surgical treatment of tumors of the skull base. He serves a wide patient population, both children and adults, who suffer from all forms of disorders of the ear.
Dr. Muckle is a clinical instructor of otolaryngology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, the American College of Surgeons, and the American Neurotology Society. He is a past president and executive committee member of the Colorado ENT Society and a member of the Denver Medical Society. Dr. Muckle previously served as a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology’s National Committee on Balance Disorders.
Dr. Muckle is an experienced lecturer on disorders of the ear at the local, national, and international levels of scientific meetings. He has published articles in several medical journals, such as the American Journal of Otology and Pediatrics. Dr. Muckle remains active in his commitment to providing hearing healthcare to the underprivileged in third-world countries.

Beth Jankowski, PA-C, a 30-year resident of Colorado, is a state licensed Physician Assistant. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Chemistry from Metropolitan State College of Denver. In 1998, Beth earned National Board Certification after graduating with honors from the surgically-focused Physician Assistant program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She returned home to Denver, where she worked in the surgical specialties of general surgery, neurosurgery, and orthopedics prior to joining Denver Ear Associates in 2006. In 2003, Beth was honored with her appointment as a board member of the Colorado State Board of Pharmacy. She is devoted to helping shape the future of Colorado’s healthcare regulatory system and ensuring public safety. As a Physician Assistant, Beth occupies an integral position in this medical practice. Her extensive medical knowledge and ease of patient rapport enable her to be a tremendous resource to our physicians, staff, and patients.
