Facial nerve paralysis resulting from trauma is a distant second to facial paralysis from Bell’s Palsy. Only 15% of facial paralysis cases result from trauma, and that trauma most commonly consists of a fracture of the skull’s temporal bone with damage to the facial nerve. Facial sensation lost can range from mild dysfunction to complete paralysis.
Treatment is determined on a case-by-case basis.
